and then she snapped: mini reunion

mini reunion

I got to get together with a couple of high school girlfriends and their families this week and it was really fun. Alyssa was one of my best friends in high school, and my roommate our first year of college, we haven't seen one another very often since then (other than the occasional facebook chat) and I hadn't even seen her AT ALL since her son was born (who is almost three!). Ingrid was another of my closest friends and we have seen her more frequently, most recently when we were in Palm Springs last spring break, and they drove over from LA to visit! Alyssa lives less than an hour away, and Ingrid was home for Christmas, so we invited them over for some DELICIOUS pork tacos that Alyssa made and brought. This was the eve of my surgery (I had my tonsils out Tuesday---ouch), and I was a little anxious so was delighted to not have to cook for a houseful. (So, yeah, we made the pregnant lady bring the food...doesn't make me sound very hospitable, huh?)
Charlie settled right in as Gabe (Ingrid's husband) read a really dumb Christmas book to he and Story. Charlie and Story are within 2 weeks in age...Charlie's older. But apparently not old enough, because Story was much more interested in hanging around Camden!

Michael (Alyssa's husband) was a patient teacher, giving Camden some impromptu lessons on his new guitar. Joaquin was content to play by himself, with cars, the entire time!

  2. This is great! I've slowly started connecting with high school friends again ~ not brave enough to involve a camera in the whole deal, but I'll work on that!

  7. Such a fun gathering! You now have me thinking I need to do this with my friends, but since we all live in different states it would be a feat. It is really awesome you could all get together!

Also, I hope your surgery went well. I have heard tonsillectomies are a lot worse once you reach adulthood. Hoping for a speedy recovery for you!

  9. Thank you so much for hosting us Rachel! We love seeing you and your family. Your photos are (as always) amazing, catching the sentiment of the evening perfectly.

I can't believe it's been twenty years. Your friendship is such a gift, and I'm so happy to pass it along to Story, Joaquin, and Charlie Pete. Where did you find that photo? Is that a yearbook shot? A club? Sending love to you and yours!
